Which one you actually want

If you own an Apple Watch and want the guess on your wrist, Find North is a good, free, focused app and does the one thing well. It is genuinely the more convenient place to make a guess — no phone out of the pocket.

If you do not own an Apple Watch — or you want the same daily habit on Android, or you want more than one thing to point at — Noriento is the one that runs anywhere. It opens in Safari or Chrome, plays in about ten seconds, and needs nothing installed.

Where they differ in substance, not just hardware

Breadth. Find North is one game: north. Noriento has six — north, the other cardinals, direction to a city, and where the moon, sun or a planet actually is right now, including below the horizon.
History. Noriento keeps a streak, a personal best, weekly and monthly averages, and a calibration score, and draws them on the dial itself.
Honesty about the sensor. Noriento records which reading produced each attempt. On iPhone it is true north straight from the system compass; on Android it is the raw magnetic heading, which sits a few degrees off. It says so rather than rounding the difference away.

Can you play both?

Yes, and it is a reasonable thing to do — they measure the same skill, so the two error numbers should track each other. If they don't, one of the two compasses is being disturbed by something metal near you, which is worth knowing.

Do they score the same way?

Both report how many degrees you were off. Noriento also reports the direction of the error — “12° east of north” rather than just “12°” — because knowing you lean east is what lets you correct tomorrow.
